Making a difference in people's lives and fostering positive change, Shaker is proud to give back to the community. Over the past quarter of a century, the Shaker Family Foundation has supported hundreds of local, national and international charitable organizations committed to addressing pressing needs of the underserved through its charitable Giving Program.

Championed by “Charity Ambassadors,” a group of big-hearted, community-focused Shaker employees, the Shaker Family Foundation regularly evaluates areas of charitable need, and works together to organize efforts and generate agency-wide interest and involvement.  Some primary interests of the Foundation include:

    •     Social Services
    •     Health Care
    •     Education
    •     Human Rights
    •     Child Welfare

Also established by the Shaker Family Foundation, Shaker Shares empowers Shaker employees to give back to the community. Every month, Shaker employees identify a charity, and the funds raised through fun, Shaker Shares-sponsored activities go to the charity of the month.

The Shaker Family Foundation also matches all funds raised from the annual charity fundraiser, “Art to Heart,” a grassroots online auction where Shaker employees donate their artistic talents and thoughtful contributions. Donations include everything from handmade jewelry, personal artwork, and homemade apple pie to the promise of shoveling a driveway on a snowy winter day. All proceeds from the event are matched by the Shaker Family Foundation and are donated to Hephzibah Children’s Association, an Oak Park organization that enhances the lives of at-risk children and families through a continuum of innovative programs.
