The owner of the copper alloy tubing and rod maker said he gave employees the required 60-day notice recently. About one-third of the people losing their jobs are salaried and the rest belong to the United Steelworkers of America Local 6445. The president of the local said he expects between 50 and 55 union employees will be subject to layoffs in 60 days. The specific timeline of the layoffs depends on how many customers make the one-time, last-minute purchase of materials.
