Joe Shaker is the President and CEO of Shaker Recruitment Advertising & Communications, one of the largest privately owned recruitment advertising and communications agencies in the country. Headquartered just outside Chicago, Illinois, the agency was founded by his father, Joseph R. Shaker, in 1951, and now involves the third generation spearheading online initiatives.
A recruitment veteran for over 35 years, Joe has spoken extensively to key Human Resource decision makers, and has been quoted in print and online media including Classified Intelligence, Reuters, Editor & Publisher, Crain’s Chicago Business, and Ad Age. In response to changing industry needs, he was instrumental in facilitating numerous local job boards throughout the country, including ChicagoJobs.com, the recipient of the prestigious 2003 Dansker Award for online initiatives.
Under Joe’s leadership, Shaker became the U.S. partner in TalentUniversal, a global network of recruitment advertising agencies. The initiative is designed to offer a global holistic recruitment strategy as key independent recruitment advertising agencies combine their talents and depth of resources to better service the global needs of advertisers.
Joe also created and serves as President of the Recruitment Agency Association, the U.S. Trade Association for Recruitment Advertising Agencies.

Joe Shaker is involved in extensive philanthropic ventures, especially involving St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a pioneer in the research and treatment of childhood catastrophic diseases. Joe has served as President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of ALSAC, the fundraising arm of St. Jude. In addition, the Shaker Agency has a charitable foundation, which supports local and national, social, educational and humanitarian efforts. Joe holds a Bachelors degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
