Wellborn Cabinet Inc.

Wellborn Cabinet Inc., of Ashland, Clay County's biggest employer, laid off 169 workers recently. The move comes as a result of the "declining economic conditions of the housing industry," according to a press release from the company. The family-owned company has been manufacturing kitchen and bath cabinetry for more than 45 years. It operates at two locations, one in Ashland and one in Lineville. The company will continue operating two shifts in Ashland and one in Lineville, according to a press release.
