Nearly 100 more employees have left Black & Decker tools plants in Jackson. The Jackson Sun reported 94 workers departed last week, but the company declined to say how many were laid off or volunteered to leave through buyouts. HR Mgr. Carmen Simeon in Jackson told the newspaper each person received a severance package that included continued benefits & outplacement services. Black & Decker operates two plants in Jackson. The electric tools manufacturer laid off 33 employees in January, citing a downturn in the housing and commercial construction sectors. Towson, MD -based Black & Decker employed a total of about 1,300 at the two Jackson plants when it purchased the facilities in 2004. Now, about 875 people remain at the two facilities.
