The impact from the weakening national economy has led the Seneca Gaming Corp. to lay off 210 workers at its three area casinos. Seneca Gaming, the casino, entertainment and hospitality arm of the Seneca Nation of Indians, announced the layoffs recently. All of the laid off employees will receive a severance package based on seniority and level of their respective position. The casinos are located in Buffalo, Niagara Falls and Salamanca. Also Seneca Gaming instituted a salary freeze for any salaried employee earning more than $70,000 annually, suspended its year-end bonus program and said salary reductions will be taken by members of its board of directors and senior management.
