Duke, Areva To Propose Nuclear Power Plant In Ohio

Duke Energy & France's Areva will announce plans to build a 1,650-megawatt nuclear power plant in southern OH, according to a person familiar with the matter. The proposed plant would be built on fed owned land in Piketon housing a former uranium enrichment facility owned by USEC. OH Gov. Strickland & other state politicians, along with Duke & Areva, are expected to announce the plans Thurs. The nuclear power plant at Piketon, if approved by fed regulators, would be the 3rd in OH & the first since FirstEnergy's Perry plant was completed in
