The approximately 60 attorneys and staffers in the Public Defender's Office in Pensacola wheeled boxes of family photos, desktop bric-a-brac and personal belongings from their offices recently by order of their newly elected boss. He said during the campaign that he planned to shake up the office and lay off some employees to help the office meet its budget. He also plans to hire several attorneys.

AOM Healthcare Solutions of Deerfield Beach, a licensed pharmacy and diabetes products supplier, filed notice recently with Florida's Agency for Workforce Innovation that it planned to lay off 353 employees effective soon. AOM's parent company Owens & Minor Inc., a Fortune 500 company based in Virginia, is selling the diabetes supply business to Liberty Healthcare Group of Port St. Lucie for $63 million in cash. The transaction announced recently is expected to close. An Owens & Minor spokeswoman said on-site job fairs and outplacement services were being offered to assist displaced workers.
