RF Micro Devices Inc. said it will eliminate approximately 100 employees world-wide as part of an operating expense restructuring. The Greensboro-based semiconductor manufacturer announced 2% job cut will affect 45 employees.
The company says the layoffs will impact their marketing/sales, administration & R&D departments. The restructuring, which is to be completed by the end of the March quarter, is expected to reduce the company's expenses by nearly $15 million per year. According to the companies website, they don't currently have plans for further operating expense reductions. In 2008, RF Micro announced approximately 680 layoffs worldwide.
