Toys 'R' Us does Christmas in July

Toys "R" Us is the latest retailer to join the Christmas-in-July sale movement & plans to run its promo for one week this month. The Wayne, NJ-based retailer is offering discounts on dozens of items in stores and online from July 19 through 25, offering markdowns of roughly 40% to 50% on toys, trains & games. On July 25, the retailer plans 1-day specials and is setting up a station from 12 to 2PM where children can make Christmas cards, play games & get a free candy cane. It is the first time the chain held a Christmas promotion in July, it said. The step follows Sears' launch last week of its Christmas sale, a first for that retailer as well.
