US Airways says it is cutting 600 ground jobs this fall due to the slow economy. It will close its Vegas US Airways Club & cut jobs at its club in Phoenix, & also shut walk-up ticket counter at its headquarters in Tempe, its last counter outside an airport. It also said it will shift to outside contractors for ramp service work at 9 airports, mostly those served by US Airways Express regional carriers. The airports include Eppley Airfield in Omaha, NE. A memo from CEO Robert Isom says employees who will lose their jobs were informed on Tuesday.
