Koch Industries is in the process of reducing its Wichita workforce by about 150 employees, the company told The Eagle recently. That represents about a 7 percent reduction since the moves began in November. Koch Industries and its approximately dozen subsidiaries had about 2,250 employees in Wichita before the reductions began. A spokeswoman said the reduction was by layoffs and attrition. She couldn't give a specific breakdown of the 150. She said Koch doesn't have a hiring freeze and noted that the company's website shows openings for about three dozen positions. She said the current economic conditions have caused a decrease in demand for Koch's broad range of products, which includes petroleum, chemicals and paper products.
