Time Warner & Google inked a deal that will allow YouTube to host content from Time Warner-owned TV shows & movies. The pact is the Internet giant's latest move to generate revenue from YouTube, popular video site Google bought for $1.65B. Google has been under growing pressure to show it can make money from the site; in July it said it expected YouTube to be profitable in the not-too-distant future. Under the deal, videos from Time Warner properties will appear on YouTube & across Google's product suite. Clips will include adv, with time sold by Warner Bros. Entertainment & Turner Broadcasting. TW's properties will share ad revenue with YouTube. It will also feature T/W content in marketing & promo campaigns, including display ads. They already work together thru another TW property - HBO - which added promo content from some of its shows including "True Blood" & "Entourage" since 2008. Previously, it added content from Sony unit Sony Pictures Entertainment, MGM Studios & others. It also struck a less-comprehensive deal with Walt Disney's ABC for clips of sports highlights & other content. Others haven't been so willing to intertwine their products with the site. Viacom sued Google in 2007 saying it didn't do enough to prevent the appearance of its content.
