Florida State University will have to lay off about 200 employees because of a cumulative $65 million budget cut, FSU’s Provost told Big Bend legislators recently. He, representing President T.K. Wetherell, said FSU is forced to consider closing departments and ending programs. He said the current state holdback of 4 percent of this year's operating budgets will cost $13 million, on top of $22 million already cut and that $30 million more needed by FSU won't be won in the fiscal year starting July 1.
