The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation is cutting about 20 percent of its government work force through buyouts and a small number of layoffs, authorities say. About 170 employees will lose their jobs. About 90 percent took a buy-out package and 10 percent were laid off, The Day of New London reported. The tribe owns and operates Foxwoods Resorts Casino. The departures trim the tribal government's work force by about 20 percent, and were part of a larger effort to cut $40 million from its budget as casino revenues have dipped.
