Life Time Fitness Inc. is cutting 100 jobs at its Chanhassen headquarters as the company scales back its expansion plans. A company spokesman says the cuts will mean a 12 percent reduction in the fitness club operator's headquarters staff of slightly more than 800. Most of the cuts will come through layoffs with the rest by not filling open positions. Life Time recently said it planned to open six new fitness centers in 2009, down from its initial goal of 11. The company operates 79 centers in Minnesota and 16 other states, and employed 15,000 people at the end of last year, about 9,500 of them part time.
