Seat maker Johnson Controls laid off 142 workers from its plant in Madison. Johnson supplies Nissan North America's plant in Canton where truck, minivan and sport utility vehicle production is down this year. Already in a poor year for new-car sales, U.S. demand continues to fall for all brands of trucks and SUVs as gas prices rise.
