The Indianapolis Star Media Group, which includes the state's largest newspaper, has cut 52 jobs as part of a nationwide staff reduction by parent Gannett Co. in response to declining revenues and an industry-wide slump. The moves, announced recently, included 20 newsroom cuts at The Indianapolis Star, or about 7 percent of its news staff. The group also will close two weekly community newspapers, the East Side Herald and the Spotlight. Ten positions will be eliminated as a result.
