Furniture Brands International will close its Henredon and Drexel Heritage plant in High Point, the company announced. The plant at 741 W. Ward Ave., employs 300 workers. City officials said the announcement took them by surprise. In a statement, Furniture Brand’s Chairman and CEO said the company will be paying severance and doing what it can to help employees with job placement.
