Edward Hospital in Naperville is eliminating 92 administrative positions, blaming a weak economy, climbing interest rates on its debt and lagging reimbursements from Medicaid and Medicare for the move. The cuts come weeks after the hospital announced it was closing Edward Academy and eliminating 34 jobs at the day school for children with emotional and learning problems. The cuts also come as the hospital is in the midst of an ambitious building campaign. With more than 4,600 employees, Edward is one of Naperville's largest employers. The reductions were focused on departments that do not deal directly with patients, and hospital officials said the nurse-to-patient ratio would not change.
