A Shenandoah company that makes transmissions for trucks and highway equipment has announced that 90 employees have been laid off. Officials at Eaton Corp. say 30 of the cuts are permanent and 60 are temporary. Company officials say the employees were notified of the cuts recently. Plant officials say the struggling economy and slow truck sales contributed to the decision. Official says workers affected by the cuts will receive job placement assistance through Iowa Workforce Development, along with severance and benefit packages.
