Direct IS

Knoxville computer services business Direct IS and its Maryville parent company abruptly closed recently, giving employees and customers no advance notice and leaving about 120 people without jobs. A hand-written "closed" sign was taped to the door of Direct IS offices in West Knoxville. An employee who came to the door of the office said the closure is permanent. Direct IS supplies customers with computer hardware, software and maintenance and represents many of the name-brand computer technology manufacturers, including HP, Apple, Dell, Sony, IBM and Microsoft. The company also provides information technology services, audio / visual and telephony products.
