More than 350 workers will lose their jobs as a supplier of automotive metal parts ends operations at plants in Lapeer, Dearborn and Sebewaing. The Detroit Free Press reported that layoff notifications filed with the state show that 352 employees will be laid off as Diez Group closes the plants that are part of its Lapeer Metal Stamping group. Diez Group said last month that the pending closures were necessary due to the "sudden, dramatic and unexpected deteriorating circumstances in the auto industry." Some of Lapeer's equipment and work are being transferred to L&W Engineering Co. Inc. in Belleville.
