Dell Inc. has cut 80 jobs at its distribution facility in West Chester, according to a filing with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. The computer manufacturer said it completed the layoffs recently, according to the filing. It did not provide a reason for the cuts. Dell opened the center, on Windisch Road, in 2004 as a small-package hub originally operated for Dell by APL Logistics. Dell took over operation of the facility in 2005. The hub fills orders of all Dell-branded software, peripherals, printing supplies and warranty parts across the United States. It employs about 900, according to the West Chester Development Council's Web site. Dell has been cutting jobs and closing facilities across its operations as customers have migrated from its desktop computers to mobile devices. The company plans to focus on business IT solutions and its notebook computers.
