Data-storage company Cornice Inc. is cutting more than 90 jobs in Longmont as it exits the hard disk drive business. The cuts leave Longmont-based Cornice with fewer than 50 employees, down from a work force of more than 200 last year. Cornice is instead turning its storage focus to a type of flash memory for use in cell phones and other consumer electronic gadgets. The change comes after some Cornice investors decided they no longer wanted to fund a hard disk drive company.
