Clayton Homes, the country's largest manufactured housing company, has laid off 90 people at its corporate headquarters in Tennessee. A spokesman said workers were told recently their jobs were being eliminated at Clayton's 1,500-employee headquarters in Maryville. They were offered severance and help finding new work. Jobs were cut at all levels of the privately held company following a year-long effort to trim costs and streamline operations.
