Advertising agency BBDO North America announced recently it is laying off, immediately, the equivalent of 145 full- and part-time positions from the BBDO Detroit office in Troy. That leaves 509 positions, after a 22 percent reduction in the workforce, at the agency that does creative ad development and other marketing services for Chrysler LLC. Chrysler's move to eliminate 5,000 salaried jobs, or 29 percent of its 17,300 white-collar workers, and a reduction in spending by the automaker, forced the downsizing at BBDO, said the director of corporate communications at BBDO North America in New York.
