Another Valley business says it's going to have to lay off some of its employees due to the economy. Up to 90 employees at American Standard in Salem will be out of a job. The company, which manufactures kitchen and bath products, says it has to make cuts because of slow sales and a large inventory. Most of the company's 340 union members returned in late Nov. after spending 5 weeks on the picket line. They agreed to work under American Standard's last contract offer which included a 5% pay cut.
