Alcoa Inc.'s Cleveland plant is losing 100 employees as the Pittsburgh-based company reduces its global workforce by about 13 percent. However, Alcoa's Forged and Cast Products factory in Cleveland has 1,250 employees, so it will continue operating almost at full force. An Alcoa spokeswoman says the company is adjusting to a widespread economic downturn. In a statement released recently, Alcoa explained that it was cutting back as it tries to conserve cash, reduce costs and strengthen its competitiveness.
