All 180 employees of a call center were notified recently that they will be laid off soon. The center, a division of Indiana-based ACCENT, handled customer-service calls for a pay-as-you-go wireless company, an ACCENT spokeswoman said. The company plans to redirect the calls to existing call centers in an effort to be more efficient, she said. About 86 percent of the layoffs are customer-service representatives, she said. The other 14 percent are in management. The site will remain open for remote employees of other branches. The company employs about 4,000 people world-wide.
