ERE Expo Spring 2009 …

It was great to be in San Diego last month. Not just because California is a mighty sweet sight to Chicagoans in March. But also (and mainly) because we had the distinct pleasure of cheering on our client, DaVita, as it was named Recruiting Department of the Year at the ERE Expo.

DaVita, leading provider of kidney care services, was one of eight distinguished companies to be honored at the ERE Expo 2009 Spring Recruiting Excellence Awards ceremony, held on March 30, 2009, at the San Diego Convention Center.

Challenging criteria, well met–and exceeded

Finalists were judged on their demonstrated ability to advance their businesses and further the recruiting profession through talent strategies—including diversity programs, career sites, referral programs, and employer branding. DaVita’s award-winning application detailed how its talent-acquisition professionals have helped to generate better hires and fuel business outcomes.

Some highlights of DaVita’s 2008 successes:

• More than 3,300 nursing positions filled in 2008 while significantly improving service, as measured by hiring managers' surveys.
• Very high ERE judge ratings for DaVita’s use of recruiting metrics, quality processes, innovation, and for driving results.
• New careers site launched in 2008, increasing site traffic by 55 percent.
• New Teammate Referral Program, where DaVita donates $150 for each hired referral to The Kidney TRUST, a non-profit that provides kidney screenings at no cost in local communities.

DaVita clearly linked its recruiting efforts with business results—“which positively impacts both patient and financial outcomes,” says DaVita Recruiting Director Tony Blake.
