Online Radio Becoming Major Factor For Reaching Young, Ethnic Candidates

For employers seeking to recruit young, ethnic applicants through radio, mobile is becoming a major factor.

New research finds Rhythmic CHR (Current Hits/Top 40 Radio) is the top radio format for listeners who access the internet from a mobile device. More than six in ten of the format’s listeners access the internet via a mobile device.

That’s 59% higher when compared to the general population according to a new study from The Media Audit.  The other top formats whose audiences are more likely to be mobile internet users are  Urban Contemporary, Hot (Up Tempo) Adult Contemporary and Sports. Radio’s most listened to format lines up pretty close to the rest of the U.S. population: country listeners are 6% more likely to use the mobile web.  AC and news/talk listeners are also slightly above the national average in mobile web usage. Adult Standards, Easy Listening and Gospel are among the formats with the lowest percentage of listeners who access the web from a mobile device.
