Nationwide Job Openings Up 6.2% In April (M-O-M) and 40.9% (Y-O-Y) Per SimplyHired

From the newly-released U.S. Employment Outlook report, based on number of online job postings complied by

  • Nationwide job openings increased by 6.2% in April from March (2013); year-over-year job openings increased 40.9%.
  • Job openings increased in each of the top 50 major metros.
  • One quarter of metros experienced double-digit growth, with Greenville (9.2%), Portland (9.0%) and Grand Rapids (8.4%) showing the largest gains.
  • The legal (13.6%) and financial services (13.2%) industries experienced the largest gains. Agriculture (-8.9%) and government (-1.7%) decreased during this period.
