Job Openings Up To Highest Level Since Before Recession

Job openings in November (2013) rose 1.8% to a seasonally adjusted 4 million, their highest level since March 2008, according to data released last week by the U.S. Labor Department.

The number of people quitting their current jobs increased 1.9% to a seasonally adjusted 2.4 million, a five-year high.

There were 2.7 unemployed workers for each available job in November (2103), down from 6.7 just after the recession ended in July 2009.
