CS, Math, Architecture and Engineering Most Difficult Positions To Fill

According to a new survey of employers released by CareerBuilder, the following skill sets/occupations are currently the most difficult to fill:

  • Computer and Mathematical – 71%
  • Architecture and Engineering – 70%
  • Management – 66%
  • Health Care Practitioners and Technical – 56%
  • Installation, Maintenance and Repair – 55%
  • Legal – 53%
  • Business and Financial Operations – 52%
  • Personal Care and Services – 50%
  • Sales and Related – 47%
  • Production – 41%

Part of the difficulty in hiring these positions is due to:

  • Education gap – 37%
  • Gaps in expectations around wages – 37%
  • Job requirements that are above entry requirements – 35%
  • New/shifting technologies – 32 %

54% of employers surveyed currently have open positions for which they can’t find qualified candidates.  35% of all employers have positions that stay open for 12 weeks or longer.
